The Mortgage Library can help you with the opportunity to take advantage of the ‘Right to Buy’ scheme and sometimes, the discount that the scheme gives you, could be used for a deposit.
Do you have the right to buy you home?
In the UK, there exists government schemes in which council tenants may benefit from a large discount off the market prices of the home they live in, if it is their only home, depending where they live.
This is providing they have lived in a council, housing association or NHS trust house that is self-contained and has been in a secure tenancy for at least 3 years. They must not have debts but may be able to buy with up to 3 people who share the tenancy. To find out more, see www.gov.uk/right-to-buy-buying-your-council-home
