In the UK, there exists government schemes in which council tenants may benefit from a large discount off the market prices of the home they live in, if it is their only home, depending where they live.
This is providing they have lived in a council, housing association or NHS trust house that is self-contained and has been in a secure tenancy for at least 3 years. They must not have debts but may be able to buy with up to 3 people who share the tenancy.
